Cardiology Care for Your Heart Health Needs

At Independence Health System, we prioritize heart health and overall wellness. Our comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program provides a structured path to recovery and improved cardiovascular health. Participating in a cardiac rehabilitation program has proven to yield positive results for patients, including improved function, symptom management, and decreased risk of continued heart issues.

Understanding Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program designed to improve cardiovascular health following a cardiac event. Our cardiologists deliver a multifaceted approach to cardiac rehabilitation that promotes long-term well-being.

Programs typically last 6 to 12 weeks, depending on individual needs and health requirements. Customized rehabilitation plans are created to help safely regain strength and endurance, and we also offer resources and knowledge regarding managing heart conditions and maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle.

We will base your prescribed exercises on your condition, physical abilities, and progression throughout the program. You will wear a cardiac monitor while you exercise and we will check your blood pressure before, during, and after each session, in order to measure your progress.

Most insurance plans offer coverage for supervised cardiac rehabilitation for the following cardiac events and conditions:

  • Angina
  • Heart attack (within the past 12 months)
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Heart valve repair or replacement
  • Balloon angioplasty or stenting of a coronary artery
  • Heart transplant
  • Chronic heart failure
